Hi,

I've used the android app once so far, on a galaxy nexus with android 4.0.4.
On this one short trip, I encountered all of the issues pointed out by the OP, except I would say that the percentage of wrong directions was much lower.

The fact that the app stops working when the phone is locked is a biggie though, as I'd like to put the phone in my back pocket and listen to routing directions with my bluetooth headset. It doesn't even use the proximity sensor to turn the screen off when I put it in my pocket.

Apart from that, lack of pinch to zoom is also a big omission.

Hi Tom

Thanks for your feedback.

A new version of the app is being released soon which addresses all of those issues...apart from reading out 'short unnamed link'.

There's an interim release due very soon which doesn't have many updates apart from the link for the intro video. The update after that has the changes you've suggested, something others have been asking for, too.

Hi BikeHub,

I've been testing the Android app on my Samsung i9100 Galaxy S2 running Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.3 (not rooted). I've been using it with a pair of Jabra Sport bluetooth headphones to get audio directions. I've compared this with Google and Synergic GPS for fairness.

Firstly I'll it's a great app. It is the only thing that I find find that is dedicated turn by turn directions for cyclists. I'd like to help you make it better so..

Some issues:
> When you plan a journey you can go back to change it from say 'fastest' to 'balanced'.. you have to enter addresses over again.
> About 10% of the instructions are wrong. I can't accept a single instruction being wrong as it has taken me into private property. Didn't have any problems with Sygic & Google.
> Audio directions via bluetooth cut out the first second or so for about 30% of the time. Google and Sygic work much better (90%) so it is not a hardware issue.
> Some of the roads / paths are read out as 'short unnamed link'. If you don't have the name you shouldn't read it out I think.
> When you deviate from the path it has set it doesn't re-route well at all. It will assume you are on you original route I would say up to a half a mile. Google and Sygic handle this fine.
> You cannot route with the phone locked / application running in the background. I have to disable screen locking which will drain the battery.

Many Thanks,

Tom
