Cash grants for Kent cycle projects up for grabs

05/03/2007 News

Kent County Council is inviting applications for grants, which are expected
to be available for between £100 and £500, from local cycling clubs and
organisations keen to stage Go Cycle Kent special events and activities.

“The grants are to help groups put on activities which will generate more
interest in cycling for people of all ages and abilities,” said Mike Hill,
Kent County Council Cabinet Member for Communities.

“They could be cycling club taster days, skills days for local schools,
public cycle rides or community cycling sessions. We are looking to support
people with good ideas who are enthusiastic about cycling and want to share
their enthusiasm with other people.

“Cycling is an activity and a sport for all to enjoy. It is good for our
health, and our children’ health, and good for the environment.”

The Go Cycle Campaign will be launched at the end of March. A dedicated
website will feature details of new and well-established Kent cycle routes
and cycling events as well as advice on safe ways to get out and about in
the countryside, keeping active and protecting the environment.
