Dress up this Halloween but not for trick or treating, go for a bike ride instead. Here are some ride and race ideas.

Halloween at Platt Fields • Manchester
27th October
Fancy a Halloween challenge? How about racing your BMX in fancy dress? Meet at Manchester BMX Track for two hours of unbridled competitive fun for all ages and abilities. With novice and expert categories, and fancy dress optional, the race incorporates the Manchester Super Saturday Series trophy presentation. Registration starts at 15.10 for a 16.00 start.

The Hub’s Halloween Fright Ride • Stockton on Tees
31st October
Gather your body parts in one place at The Hub for a 20 mile ride to darkest Darlington. Fancy dress is optional, lights essential as the ride will be on dimly lit, haunted paths and spectre-riddled roads. No need to register, just turn up.

HalloCross • Craigmillar Castle Park, Scotland
31st October
Race starts 6.30pm. You will need lights and warm clothing. Race duration is 45 minutes, plus a lap. Race is for over 18s only.

Halloween Cycling Party • Shrewsbury
31st October
Bring out your kids, with helmets, for an afternoon ride around the Shrewsbury Sports Village cycle track. With face painting, games and giveaways inside the Sports Village and a Dr Bike to resurrect your bike, should it need a new lease of life. There is also a prize for the best fancy dress.

From Pier to the Underworld • Hastings
2nd November
Pier to Eternity, the group that brought you bike rides with sound and illuminations, are offering a ghoulish dive into the underworld. Meet at Hastings Pier and light up your rides using witchcraft as part of your scariest half human half bike/skateboard/rollerboots outfit yet.
