Sustrans seeks more volunteer rangers

03/02/2005 News

2005 is Year of the Volunteer, with the month of May focussing on the environment. Behind the scenes at Sustrans, 1500 volunteer rangers help to maintain sections of the National Cycle Network.

During environment month aims to encourage more people to join this nation-wide team. What do rangers do? They ride ‘their’ route regularly to monitor signing, report potential dangers, and deal with minor problems themselves. Rangers are the ‘eyes and ears’ of Sustrans.

The National Cycle Network will reach 10 000 miles of waymarked routes in September.
