Gatwick Express welcomes full-size bikes, and always will
19/06/2006 NewsGatwick Express has used the start of Bike Week to promote its new policy of carrying full-size bicycles, not just folding ones.
Andrew Conroy, head of customer services at Gatwick Express, said:
“Unlike many of our competitors we transport cycles of all types at all times.
“Whether our passengers are travelling from central London to Sussex for the countryside or from the Crawley area to cycle around London they can rest assured that Gatwick Express will never fold on this issue.”
Phillip Darnton, chair of Cycling England, said: “We applaud any train operating company which allows cycles onboard their trains and takes an interest in passengers who do want to carry cycles on trains. Gatwick Express is a great example of a company which caters for cyclists.”
Dr. Susie Morrow, chair of London Cycling Campaign’s cycle parking and carriage working group, said:
“The combination of bike and rail is an ideal example of integrated transport that helps reduce the congestion on our roads and pollution in our streets. The Gatwick Express, with its provision of luggage cars that can accommodate a range of cycles, including adaptive bikes, demonstrates forward thinking that other train operators can learn from.”
